I purchased this scale after my baby was born, to track my weight loss and her weight gain. I have used, and trusted this thing for two years.
Last week, I went to the doctor and was shocked to learn that I weigh eight pounds less than I thought I did. I weighed myself on two scales in the office, because I wanted to be sure, and weighed myself again when I got home. Yup, it's wrong.
I called the company, and was told that they will be more than happy to replace it for me, with a brand new scale, which sounds great. Only problem is, they want ME to pay to ship my broken scale to them! It's going to cost me around $10, which is half the current price of the scale, to ship it to them.
Can somebody please tell me how it's fair to expect me to pay $30+ to have a working $20 scale?
And what if the replacement doesn't work? (I'm supposed to trust that it will work, when this one didn't??) Then I have to pay AGAIN, for shipping, in order to get a replacement. So then I've paid TWICE the retail price for one scale, still with no guarantee that it will work.
I even called the corporate office, to find out why they think this is a good policy. I was told that it would simply be cost-prohibitive for them to pay shipping for all of the broken scales that need to be returned.
Really? They have THAT many broken products? I thought they were supposed to make good, reliable products? (That's what I heard, and that's why I chose them. Oops.)
Now, can somebody tell me how Zappos stays in business?
